Speech and AI processing

Redpen sends your transcript to fal.ai and ByteDance Seed to generate grammar corrections and coach replies. If Seed cannot return valid JSON, Redpen may send the same transcript to NVIDIA Nemotron through fal.ai as a fallback model. Your transcript may be processed by these providers. Continue only if you agree.

Redpen recognizes speech on your iPhone using on-device recognition, with no server fallback. Only the transcript you review and confirm is sent to our servers to generate corrections, after your explicit consent. Redpen does not upload or store audio.

If on-device speech is unavailable, use typed input. Check the transcript before sending it for an AI review.

Before any transcript goes to a third-party AI provider for English tutoring, Redpen shows the current provider disclosure and asks for your explicit consent. You can review and edit the transcript before confirming it. AI can make mistakes.

The disclosure names the active AI provider. If the provider or disclosure changes, Redpen asks for consent again. If current consent details are unavailable, no transcript is sent. Optional server speech stays off unless Redpen offers it and you agree to its disclosure.

Free website checker

The website checker sends your typed English sentence only after you select the consent checkbox and submit it. The current AI provider disclosure above applies to the checker too.

Public checks do not create an account. Redpen does not save your checker text or review in its database. The page keeps your text in memory while it is open and does not save it in browser storage. AI providers process your text under their own policies; Redpen does not control their retention.

To enforce free usage limits, Redpen keeps rotating, keyed hashes of IP addresses and request counters. Usage counters expire within two days and are removed during daily cleanup. The spending ledger keeps totals, not your text.

What Redpen keeps

Redpen does not store audio. Unsaved transcripts expire after 30 days. Saved sessions remain until you remove their saved status or delete your account. Expired unsaved sessions become inaccessible immediately and are physically removed during daily cleanup. Managed database backups follow the hosting provider’s retention policy.

Your profile, session transcripts, saved mistakes and device credential support your practice. No advertising or sale of personal data.

Payments stay with Apple

Apple processes subscription payments and may retain payment records. Deleting your account removes your profile, transcripts, saved sessions, credentials and purchase associations from Redpen. It does not cancel your Apple subscription.

Your controls

Review or withdraw AI consent in Settings. Delete your account in Settings > Delete account to remove your Redpen data.
